Thank you for reaching out, and greetings back from Belgrade! I’m happy to share my journey with the River Cruise Leadership Academy — it’s been meaningful, eye-opening, and full of growth.

1. What motivated you to consider joining the Academy?

I already have substantial experience in the river cruise industry — I’ve spent years learning the operational side, understanding the rhythm of life onboard, and working closely with teams and guests. But what I was missing was deeper insight into leadership itself: what truly defines a cruise manager, how they think, act, and make decisions under pressure.

I wanted inside intel — not just general advice, but real, practical knowledge from someone who’s lived it. I was curious about the mindset, the preparation, and the strategic thinking behind successful leadership in this unique environment.

Joining the Academy felt like the right step to sharpen my perspective, challenge my assumptions, and learn what separates a good team member from a great leader.

2. What were your main hopes or goals before starting?

My main goal was to absorb as much knowledge as possible — not just facts, but insights, perspectives, and practical wisdom. I wanted to learn from the mentor’s experience, but also from my fellow participants.

I hoped to understand what truly defines a leader in the river cruise industry: how they think, how they act, how they prepare. I wanted to learn about the professional standards, the mindset required, and the everyday realities of leadership on board.

I also hoped to gain clarity about my own potential — to see whether I could realistically pursue this path, and what steps I’d need to take to get there.

3. What challenges or doubts were on your mind at that time?

I had several doubts. I asked myself: Do I have enough experience to be taken seriously? Will I be able to keep up with the content and expectations?

I wondered whether the Academy would truly help me shape myself in the right direction, or if I was aiming too high too soon. I questioned whether I’d receive the kind of mentorship that goes beyond theory — someone who would genuinely guide me, challenge me, and support me.

I also worried about the course structure: Will the material be clear and well-organized? Will the mentor be patient and open to questions? Will I be able to balance the pace of learning with my other commitments?

And perhaps most of all, I asked myself: Will this experience open doors? Will it help me build meaningful connections with people who can recognize my potential and give me a chance to prove myself?

4. Looking back, what made you decide to take the leap and enroll?

Ultimately, it was a mix of self-belief and careful evaluation. I knew I wanted this — not as a passing interest, but as a serious step toward my future. I trusted my instincts and felt ready to commit.

I also took time to research the mentor — their background, reputation, and the feedback from others who had worked with them. Everything I found confirmed that this was someone I could learn from, someone who genuinely invests in their students.

That gave me the confidence to move forward. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to grow, connect, and challenge myself in a structured, supportive environment.

5. After a month in the course, how do you feel about your progress and experience so far?

I feel more confident, more informed, and more focused than ever. The Academy has given me not just knowledge, but perspective — a deeper understanding of what leadership really means in this industry.

I’ve gained practical tools, clearer direction, and a stronger sense of purpose. I now feel equipped to take initiative, to communicate with more clarity, and to lead with intention.

Most importantly, I’ve built meaningful connections — with peers who inspire me, and with a mentor I trust. Knowing that I have someone I can turn to for advice, feedback, and encouragement makes all the difference.

The Academy has exceeded my expectations. It’s not just a course — it’s a space for transformation, and I’m grateful to be part of it.
