About the Program
What exactly is the River Cruise Leadership Academy?
It’s the same training I have delivered for 15 years as an independent trainer of Cruise Managers, working with a major river cruise company — now open to anyone ready to transform their career.
62 lessons. Weekly live sessions. A 5-day bootcamp onboard a river cruise ship. A one-year mentorship.
I have trained 160+ Cruise Managers and was the ongoing mental support for 160 of them. Now I’m sharing that same method — and that same support — with you.
How do I join, and when can I start?
Every student starts with a 30-minute admission call with Maddy — request yours here. If it is the right fit for both of us, you receive your personal enrolment link, your 62 lessons open the same day, and you join the next weekly live session.
The only deadline is bootcamp registration, which closes three months before each bootcamp.
What if I miss live sessions?
Every session is recorded. Topics rotate every 12 weeks, so you will attend each topic live eventually.
Mila, an Academy graduate hired at €300+ a day, never attended a single live session — she watched the recordings and got hired anyway.
Which bootcamp will I attend?
The next one after you enroll: The Diamond Route, 6–10 February 2027, a round trip from Düsseldorf. Your place is included in your tuition.
Registration closes on 6 November 2026. After that, places depend on free cabins, so the earlier you enroll, the safer your place.
Who are the other students?
Our students come from hotels, ships and guiding, from across Europe and beyond: hotel managers, licensed tour guides, an engineer turned guide, a musician from expedition ships, parents looking for a more flexible career.
You don’t need to fit a mold. Hospitality passion and willingness to grow are what matter.
What happens after the 62 lessons?
The lessons are Phase 01, the first three months of a one-year mentorship. Phase 01 ends with your final assessment, which opens the door to Phase 02.
In Phase 02 (months 4–6) we prepare your application with you: destination training, CV and LinkedIn, interview practice, introductions to hiring managers and a bootcamp onboard a river cruise ship. Once you are hired, Phase 03 begins: 9 private 1-to-1 coaching sessions with me around your first three cruises, with crisis support while they run.
Our promise is 100% support until one year after academy enrollment, and it is written into the Student Agreement. We will never promise you a job, because that would be dishonest. What we do promise is that you will not face it alone.
How do I graduate?
You complete your homework and pass a final assessment — project, port talk and written exam — with a pass mark of 80.
Every graduate receives a certificate with a personal code, so a hiring manager can confirm it in seconds.

Who is Maddy?
Maddy Căldărușe has spent 26 years on Europe’s rivers as a Cruise Manager, and 15 years as an independent trainer of Cruise Managers, working with a major river cruise company.
She has trained 160+ Cruise Managers, and their guests rate them 97%+ from their very first cruises.
She is still cruising today. The career she built pays well above €75,000 a year, for around 120 days of work.

Why does it cost what it does?
The investment: €3,500 for enrolments until 31 December 2026, €5,000 from 1 January 2027. Both cover the same full year, all three phases.

Return on investment: our graduates are hired at €300 to €750 a day. Even at €300, the Academy pays for itself within your first month onboard; at €750, within about a week of work.
Traditional hospitality: €18,000–25,000 a year, 280+ working days.
River Cruise Manager: €45,000–75,000 a year, around 120 working days.

Is there a payment plan?
Yes. Until 31 December 2026 you can choose:
- Full payment: €3,500
- Two payments: 2 × €1,800
From 1 January 2027 the investment is €5,000, with payment plans available. After your admission call you receive a personal enrolment link with all payment options, including bank transfer.
Can I change my mind after enrolling?
Yes. You have the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, and you can use the “Withdraw from contract here” button in the footer of every page.

Which river cruise lines hire?
River cruise lines across Europe hire Cruise Managers and Cruise Directors every season, and so do the crewing agencies that work with them.
We track current openings in the River Cruise Jobs Navigator, refreshed every Wednesday. Introductions to hiring managers are part of Phase 02 of the Academy.
I have no cruise experience — can I do this?
Absolutely.
Most students come from:
- Hotel reception and management
- Tour guiding
- Restaurant management
- Travel agencies
- General hospitality
You don’t need cruise experience. You need hospitality passion, willingness to learn, and commitment to growth.
I had zero cruise experience in 2000.
